The cessation of Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory is one of the conditions for ending Iran's war with the United States. This was announced on April 8 by the President of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Peseshkian.

On April 8, Israel launched a new attack on Lebanon, despite the truce agreement. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, hundreds of people were killed and injured after the attack. Iran's state broadcaster IRIB also reported on the "brutal Zionist bombing of Beirut." Al Mayadeen TV channel provided Izvestia with footage of the aftermath of an Israeli strike on a cafe in the city of Sayd in southern Lebanon. As a result of the attack, nine people were killed and more than 20 injured.

Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt, explained that Lebanon is not a party to the temporary ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. At the same time, Tasnim news agency, citing a source, stated that Tehran may abandon the truce agreement with Washington if Israel continues to strike Lebanon.

US President Donald Trump said earlier in the day that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks. He explained that the condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz. The head of the White House said that the United States had received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict. Washington is ready to continue working on its basis. Later, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the country also supports the agreement.
