- The UK has opened a case against a Ukrainian militant for a terrorist attack in the Kursk region.
The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case against Sergei Doroshenko, a militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who participated in the invasion of the Kursk region in the spring of 2025. This was announced on April 8 by the press service of the department.
"A criminal case has been opened against Serhiy Doroshenko, a serviceman of the 425th separate assault regiment of the armed forces of Ukraine, who committed a terrorist act in the Kursk region," the message says in the MACH messenger.
The investigation established that Doroshenko, as part of the unit, illegally crossed the state border of Russia. Carrying a machine gun and grenades, he was in the forest belt of the Sudzhansky district.
In the Kursk region, a militant was monitoring a settlement, local residents, and the movements of Russian troops. He also took part in blocking and keeping the territory under armed control.
During the fighting, Doroshenko was detained by soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces, after which he was handed over to the investigative authorities. Law enforcement officers are now identifying civilians who may have suffered from the detainee's actions.
On April 7, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the fact of an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a school in the Zaporizhia village of Velikaya Znamenka. It is specified that two buildings of the school were damaged during the impact. Investigators examined the site of the attack, recorded the destruction and seized evidence.
