Nebenzia stated Russia's concern about the situation in Lebanon
Russia expresses deep concern about the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon, where attacks on life support facilities and a rapid increase in the number of victims are being observed. This was announced on April 8 by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzia.
According to the diplomat, the events taking place in the republic are beginning to resemble the humanitarian crisis observed in the Gaza Strip.
"We are extremely concerned that the situation in Lebanon is developing according to the Palestinian scenario, where the number of victims continues to grow and attacks on critical infrastructure are being recorded," Nebenzia stressed at a meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to the protection of civilians during armed clashes.
On April 8, Israel launched a new attack on Lebanon, despite the truce agreement. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, hundreds of people were killed and injured after the attack. Iran's state broadcaster IRIB also reported on the "brutal Zionist bombing of Beirut." Al Mayadeen TV channel provided Izvestia with footage of the aftermath of an Israeli strike on a cafe in the city of Sayd in southern Lebanon. As a result of the attack, 90 people were killed and more than 700 injured.
