All active drivers of the Moscow taxi — more than 241 thousand people — successfully passed the examination on knowledge of rules of work. The Metropolitan Department of Transport announced this in its channel on MAX on April 8.

Testing includes questions on knowledge of the rules of transportation of passengers and their luggage, emergency procedures, and the location of key city facilities and access routes to them. Its passage has become mandatory since March 1 for drivers of passenger taxis in Moscow and the Moscow region.

Deptrans shared the impressions of some taxi drivers about passing the certification. As one of the drivers noted, testing is not difficult, and the questions are such that "if a taxi driver cannot answer them, he is either not a taxi driver, or he has nothing to do in a taxi." Another said that he had been working in taxi transportation for 10 years, and the questions also seemed quite easy to him: if there is an understanding of the minimum orientation in the city, then there will be no problems with delivery, he pointed out.

"We are doing a comprehensive job to make taxi rides even safer and more comfortable. We have already managed to achieve high rates: by the end of last year, accidents involving taxi cars decreased by 7%. In order to maintain the service at this level, mandatory driver certification has been introduced," said Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's Deputy Mayor for Transport.

Earlier, on April 6, it was reported that in Russia it is planned to start detecting taxi drivers' fatigue, deterioration of their well-being or abnormal behavior using the ERA-GLONASS state information system. The agreement on joint work on the development of services for the taxi industry was signed by the system operator and the Public Council for Taxi Development.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
