On April 8, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance called the truce between Washington and Tehran fragile, but expressed hope for a subsequent end to the war with Iran's "good faith" approach.

"If the Iranians are willing to work with us in good faith, I think we can reach an agreement. If they are going to lie, deceive, if they are going to try to prevent even the fragile truce that we have established, then they will be unhappy," he said.

This discontent, according to Vance, will be that the United States will put military, diplomatic and "exclusive economic levers" on Iran. He added that US President Donald Trump has asked for the time being not to use "these tools" and to sit down at the negotiating table.

"But if the Iranians don't do exactly the same, they will find out that the US president is not to be trifled with. He's impatient. He's looking forward to making progress," Vance warned.

According to him, the outcome of the negotiations "depends on the Iranians." The US vice president expressed hope that Tehran "will make the right decision."

Trump said earlier in the day that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for another two weeks. The condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz. The United States also received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict. At the same time, on that day, Trump declared his readiness to resume hostilities against Iran if the United States could not conclude an agreement satisfactory to Washington.

According to the order of Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, Washington and Tehran will hold talks on working out the terms of a peace agreement between the two countries in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. They will be held on Friday, April 10.
