The American F-15 fighter jet could have been destroyed by an Iranian Soviet or Russian-made air defense system. This was announced on April 8 by military expert and retired colonel Viktor Litovkin.

The expert noted that the Tor-M1 complexes are in service with Iran and were previously used to protect nuclear power plants. Thanks to the tracked chassis, these systems are mobile, and their 20-30 km range allows them to hit F-15 caliber targets.

"They also had our S-300 system. I don't rule out that he's still in the ranks. This complex operates at a distance of up to 300 km and could also shoot down this aircraft," he told TASS.

In addition, the expert pointed out that Tehran has Igla and Verba portable anti-aircraft missile systems. Despite the limited range of up to 10 km, even such weapons can pose a threat to US aviation. Litovkin added that the American side could have shown excessive arrogance by deciding that Iran's air defense system had been completely eliminated.
