On April 7, the Telegram administration blocked 100,719 thousand channels and groups around the world. This became known on April 8 from the updated statistics on the messenger's website.

It is noted that since the beginning of the year, Telegram has blocked almost 12 million channels and groups that violate the messenger's policy. At the same time, over 512 thousand blockages were recorded over the past week.

The administration of the messenger explained that in 2026, almost 155 thousand channels were closed for distributing sexual materials, and more than 53 thousand for calls to violence and propaganda of terrorism.

On April 6, Telegram messenger began highlighting users using third-party services (the so-called "mirrors") with special marks "unofficial client". It is noted that the use of unofficial services reduces the security of correspondence between users.
