Iran denied the approval of a negotiating group for dialogue with the United States
Contrary to unconfirmed reports in the Iranian media, the head of the Islamic Republic's negotiating team for the upcoming talks with the United States, mediated by Pakistan, has not yet been identified. Tasnim news agency reported this on April 8, citing informed sources.
"The secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, together with the three branches of government and other relevant officials, is carefully studying all aspects and conditions necessary for negotiations, and official statements will be made in the near future," the source said.
The informed source also advised the media to refrain from unnecessary speculation and spreading news devoid of factual accuracy or reliability.
Earlier, the Iranian ISNA news agency reported that the chairman of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, would be the head of the negotiating group. It also followed from the same message that US Vice President Jay Dee Vance would lead the American negotiators.
US President Donald Trump said earlier in the day that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for another two weeks. He also explained that the condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz. The head of the White House said that the United States had received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict.
Republican Congressman Chris Murphy said on April 7 that the terms of the truce between Washington and Tehran are a disaster. He also expressed doubts about the authenticity of the terms of the truce, pointing out that Washington and Tehran interpret the provisions of the deal differently.
