Ramen producer Nongshim talks about plans to enter the Russian market
Nongshim, the largest producer of instant noodles (ramen) in the Republic of Korea, plans to open a subsidiary in Russia in June as part of its strategy to expand into the Eurasian market. This was announced on April 8 by the Yonhap News agency.
"According to Nongshim's forecasts, the Russian ramen market will grow from $790 million in 2025 to 1.5 trillion won ($1.05 billion) by 2030," the company said.
The press release says that Nongshim will establish Nongshim Rus LLC in Moscow to meet the growing demand for ramen in Russia and the CIS countries. The Russian division will become a regional hub for Central Asia, strengthening sales networks in neighboring CIS countries, including Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Yonhap writes.
"Russia is a strategic hub that connects Europe and Asia. The country has a potential market where the consumption of ramen is growing rapidly," said a company representative.
On February 25, Russian Ambassador to Seoul Georgy Zinoviev said that the ferry service between Russia and the Republic of Korea has good prospects for development. According to him, the resumption of ferry operations clearly confirms their relevance in the current conditions, when there are no direct flights between the countries.
