Chernyshev spoke about the possibility of creating sovereign territories on the Moon

The implementation of the federal project "Space Science" will allow Russia to create sovereign territories on the Moon. This was announced on April 7 at the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences by Sergey Chernyshev, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"[The project] will give Russia key knowledge and technologies in the exploration of the Moon. It will create sovereign territories of Russia on the Moon," the academician emphasized during the conference "Space as a source of scientific knowledge, progress and cooperation."

In his report, the scientist presented the key goals and objectives of the new program. According to Chernyshev, the project will provide the country with the necessary technologies for deep exploration of the Earth's satellite.

He clarified that the launch of 16 spacecraft is planned as part of the federal project. The work will be carried out in several research areas. The project is aimed at preserving the independent competencies of Russian science and developing leading scientific schools.

Chernyshev announced on April 7 that Russian scientists plan to find traces of life on Venus in the second half of the 2030s during the Venus D project. According to him, this is not currently the case, but traces of this life, "complex organic compounds", can be found.
