Trump postponed strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure
On April 8, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States was postponing possible strikes on Iran's civilian energy infrastructure for two weeks.
Trump explained that he had decided to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for two weeks based on conversations with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, as well as their request to postpone the use of destructive force against Iran while the Islamic Republic is ready to fully, immediately and safely open the Strait of Hormuz.
"We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran and we believe that it is an acceptable basis for negotiations. The United States and Iran have agreed on almost all the various points of disagreement in the past, but a two—week deadline will allow us to finalize the agreement," he wrote on the Truth Social network.
He noted that the United States has already "fulfilled and exceeded" all its military objectives, as well as made great progress in achieving long-term peace with Iran and in the Middle East as a whole.
On April 6, the American leader said that the conflict with Iran could end very quickly if Tehran fulfills the necessary conditions. He also called Tuesday, April 7, the last deadline for ending the war. At the same time, Trump considered attacks on Iranian civilian targets acceptable.
