Russia has become the main beneficiary of the conflict in the Middle East and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz, receiving billions of euros in additional revenue from the export of raw materials. This was announced on April 7 by Matthias Schepp, Chairman of the Board of the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

"Russia is the main winner in the new war in the Middle East. All of this could bring Russia unexpected monetary fortune on a historic scale," the Handelsblatt newspaper quoted him as saying.

According to Schepp's calculations, Russia's profit from the export of oil, gas and fertilizers against the background of the destabilization of the region amounts to more than €10 billion per month.

He also said that Russia benefits from rising global energy prices because it uses alternative export routes that do not depend on the situation in the conflict zone.

According to experts, if oil prices remain at about $100 per barrel, the Russian budget may receive an additional $71.8 billion (€62.1 billion) per year in excess of the planned figures.

On the same day, Bloomberg reported that the price of Russian Urals crude oil reached a 13-year high amid the conflict in Iran. The agency clarifies that when shipped from the port of Primorsk in the Baltic Sea, a barrel cost $116.05, and from the Black Sea Novorossiysk — $114.45.
