25 appeals to medical institutions have been recorded in the Moscow region since the beginning of the season regarding tick bites. This was announced by the press service of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) in the region on Tuesday, April 7.

The ministry noted that this is lower than the same period last year. In addition, Rospotrebnadzor clarified that more than 5,000 people, including about 3,000 children, have been vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis in the Moscow region. 360.ru .

"It is planned to carry out acaricide treatments on an area of more than 5 thousand hectares. No cases of tick-borne viral encephalitis have been registered in the Moscow region. The epidemiological situation of tick—borne infections is under constant control of the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Moscow Region," the Moscow City News Agency quoted the agency as saying.

According to Vladislav Zhemchugov, MD, a specialist in especially dangerous infections, ticks have an infrared sensor, so they just wait for someone warm-blooded to pass by, so absolutely everything is at risk: both animals and people.

In turn, doctor Olga Malinovskaya said that tests after a tick bite should be done in two weeks, RT reports.

Earlier, on April 6, infectious disease specialist Elena Meskina said that a tick can cause various dangerous diseases such as encephalitis, borreliosis, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, tularemia and typhus. According to the specialist, any changes in the state of health after a tick bite are a reason to contact a medical institution.
