Russians will choose a name for a kitten of the Far Eastern leopard

VTB launches a social media vote to choose the name of the third kitten from the family of the Far Eastern leopard, which lives in the national park "Land of the Leopard" in Vladivostok. This was reported in the press service of the bank.

"VTB has been symbolically taking care of the Far Eastern leopards for several years. During this time, we held three open contests, choosing names for rare cats — Gerda's mother and her two kittens Phoenix and Sierra. The third kitten was hiding and got caught in a camera trap recently. This time, when choosing a name, we involved the bank's IT team. We are waiting to see which of her suggested options the audience of social networks and the Data Fusion 2026 conference will prefer, where it will also be possible to vote for the most liked name," said Natalia Kochneva, Senior Vice President of VTB.

Five names were put to the vote: Dion, derived from Dionysus, the ancient Greek god; Verne, in honor of the naturalist and creator of the noosphere theory Vladimir Vernadsky; Kosmik, in memory of the founder of Russian cosmism and philosopher Nikolai Fedorov, as well as Fusion and Prometheus.

Voting is open from April 7 to April 9 in the VK community of Data Fusion. On April 8 and 9, you can vote at the Data Fusion 2026 conference in Moscow (Lomonosov cluster). The results will be announced on April 10 in VTB's social media communities.

Experts know that this kitten of the Far Eastern leopard is about two years old. For a long time, they could not determine his gender, however, recently he was caught in a camera trap, and scientists at the national park were able to confirm that he was a male. The animal is healthy, he has no problems with hunting and food.

VTB has been supporting the Land of the Leopard National Park since 2023 and holds the title of Guardian of the Leopard. The bank's custody includes a family of wild Far Eastern leopards: mother Gerda, son Phoenix, daughter Sierra, and an unnamed kitten.
