A woman died in a fire in an apartment building in the Pskov region.

An elderly woman died in a fire in the Porkhovsky municipal district of the Pskov region. This is reported by the regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The fire occurred last Saturday, April 4, in the village of Smolenets. A one-story brick apartment building caught fire. Judging by the photos from the scene, the roof of the house collapsed, the building itself burned out completely from the inside.

A 73-year-old woman died as a result of the fire, and rescuers found her body during extinguishing. The probable cause of the fire in the Ministry of Emergency Situations is called careless handling of fire when smoking.

According to the Pskov news feed, six people and two pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. The circumstances and the exact cause of the fire are being established.
