The dermatologist called mistakes in care leading to early wrinkles
The early appearance of wrinkles is more often associated not with genetics, but with daily habits and mistakes in skin care. Yulia Gallyamova, MD, dermatologist, told Izvestia about this on April 7, the Day of the Dermatovenerologist in Russia.
"Most of the causes of premature aging can be controlled. The problem is that people often don't even realize that it is their daily actions that are gradually worsening their skin condition," she said.
According to the expert, one of the key mistakes is ignoring sunscreens. Many people use SPF only in summer, although ultraviolet radiation affects the skin all year round and destroys the collagen responsible for its elasticity. Excessive enthusiasm for peels and scrubs is also common, which violates the protective barrier of the skin and leads to moisture loss.
Gallyamova stressed that mistakes are often made at the purification stage. Many people do not share makeup and washing, which leaves dirt on the skin, causing dryness and irritation. The use of products with a high alcohol content also negatively affects the condition of the skin, destroying its protective layer. In addition, the dermatologist pointed out the risk of skin overload due to excessive amounts of care products.
"As a result, the protective barrier of the skin is disrupted, it loses moisture, becomes sensitive and ages faster. Experts recommend doing peels moderately: once a week on average, and even less often for sensitive skin," the doctor noted.
Insufficient hydration also accelerates skin aging. In the absence of regular care, it loses moisture faster, becomes less elastic and more prone to wrinkles. At the same time, active agents such as acids and retinol should be used in courses, otherwise they can cause irritation and thinning of the skin.
The expert added that excessive interest in cosmetic procedures can also be harmful. Frequent injections and hardware interventions without observing intervals disrupt the skin's repair processes and worsen its appearance.
"The basis of healthy skin is simple: regular cleansing, adequate hydration and daily sun protection. Everything else should be selected individually and preferably with the participation of a specialist. It is these simple but systematic steps that help keep the skin young and slow down the appearance of wrinkles," the doctor concluded.
Alexandra Kamyshnikova, a cosmetologist at the Geltek Aesthetic Medicine clinic, said on March 20 that Russians continue to use winter thick creams, although self-care should be changed in the spring. According to her, it's worth switching to softer textures in the spring.
