The pace at which Chinese automakers are introducing new models to the market is much higher than that of European, Japanese or American car companies. One of the reasons is that the Chinese market is competitive and overheated, said Andrey Kogan, founder of the All-China company, chairman of the Committee for work with China at the Association of Exporters and Importers.

According to the expert, what traditional car companies take four to five years to do, China can do in two to three years.

"Dozens of brands are competing for customer attention inside the country, and updating the product range is becoming not just a marketing tool, but a matter of survival. If a company doesn't show a new product every year or two, it quickly loses the interest of the audience," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Kogan as saying on April 6.

Another reason for the high pace of development is that Chinese manufacturers initially built processes more flexibly, decisions are made faster and there is less bureaucracy. Close integration with the local supply chain also plays an important role, and many components are manufactured domestically. In addition, electric cars and hybrids are very popular in China, which are technologically simpler in terms of powertrains, but more complex in software and electronics, an area where Chinese companies feel most confident, Kogan explained.

It is noted that for buyers, such a rapid pace of updates may have a negative side. The car becomes obsolete faster than it physically does, which affects the residual value. And the imminent abandonment of "old" models by companies can lead to difficulties in finding spare parts and technical support.

On March 31, Kogan said that some Russians who abandoned German and Japanese cars in favor of Chinese ones say they no longer want to return to old brands and are completely satisfied with the products of brands from China. The specialist explained that this is partly due to the rapid penetration of new technologies into cars.
