The deputy assessed the prospects of introducing a single GOST for gifts to newborns

In Russia, it is planned to introduce a single standard for gifts to newborns in order to eliminate differences in family support in the regions. This was announced to Izvestia on April 6 by Sergei Gavrilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Property, Land and Property Relations (KPRF faction).

"The contents of the kits and the procedure for their issuance are formed by local authorities, which leads to the lack of a single standard. It was this factor that became the basis for the development of the federal state standard for a gift to a newborn," he noted.

Gavrilov explained that the federal GOST being developed provides for two options for providing assistance: a ready-made kit with a mandatory list of items or a certificate that can be exchanged for Russian-made goods. The kit should include clothes, linens, blankets, care products and tableware made of safe certified materials.

According to him, it is planned to purchase goods from regional manufacturers, which will support the local economy and improve quality control. At the same time, there is currently no unified system for providing such gifts in the country.

Gavrilov stressed that the introduction of the federal measure is aimed at eliminating regional imbalances and ensuring a minimum level of support for all families, regardless of their place of residence. Financing of the initiative is planned within the framework of the national project "Family" with the participation of the federal budget.

"The unification of conditions will ensure equal starting opportunities for all newborns, and certificates aimed at purchasing locally produced goods will become an additional incentive for regional businesses," Gavrilov said, noting that the initiative could help strengthen the institution of the family and stimulate fertility.
