The belief in the landing of Americans on the moon has been instilled in US citizens since childhood, just as children are instilled with faith in Santa Claus. This was announced on April 6 by American cinematographer and critic of the Apollo lunar program Bart Seabrell.

"Fans of the lunar landing have been brainwashed from birth by an allegedly "majestic" mission, justifying at any cost a miracle in the spirit of Santa Claus, which no nation on Earth has been able to repeat so far, although technology has advanced for 60 years," Seabrell said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to his version, the CIA faked the moon landing in order to save face after declaring an eight-year goal and divert American attention from the Vietnam War. Seabrell claims that supporters of the official version will not abandon it, even if the mission participants themselves declare the falsification.

The New York Times newspaper reported in September 2025 that the United States may not be able to implement the plan to land astronauts on the moon in 2027 and cede leadership to China. The main reason for the backlog was delays on the part of SpaceX, which belongs to Elon Musk. The reusable Starship project, which NASA assigns a key role in the Artemis III mission, has faced serious challenges.
