In Dagestan, more than 2 thousand houses were flooded as a result of a rain flood. This was announced on April 6 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to the agency, about 1.2 thousand specialists and 200 pieces of equipment are eliminating the consequences of bad weather in the region. Due to heavy rainfall and rising water levels in the republic, repeated flooding of streets and adjacent territories occurred.

In total, more than 2 thousand residential buildings, over 1.8 thousand household plots and 173 sections of highways were flooded in nine settlements of seven municipalities.

"All emergency services of the republic continue to work around the clock, monitoring is underway. Additional forces of rescuers and fire protection units have been sent to the problem areas to assist the population if necessary," the message says.

In addition, victims of the floods in Dagestan, in a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Murad Magomedov, told about the consequences of flooding.

One of the local residents said that during the construction of the house he proceeded from the data on the latest floods in the region, but his house was still damaged.

"We didn't think it would be like this. We thought like we used to. It used to happen that water rose up to this windowsill and that was it. And now a full house has sunk," said the victim of the flood.

The emergency mode remains in Makhachkala, Buinaksk, Kaspiysk, and several other cities and districts of Dagestan.

As a result of heavy rainfall on April 5, the Gedzhukhsky reservoir overflowed in Dagestan, which caused an earthen rampart to be breached. A pregnant girl and a child died after they were swept away by the current. In addition, an apartment building in Makhachkala collapsed.

Also, in the Derbent district of Dagestan, more than 4 thousand people were evacuated in four settlements due to a dam break. The district administration clarified that most of the evacuees were staying with their relatives, while the rest were staying in six specially prepared facilities.
