Patrick Roy, the head coach of the New York Islanders hockey club, was fired and replaced by Peter Deboer. This was announced on April 5 on the official website of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Patrick Roy was fired as head coach of the New York Islanders on Sunday and replaced by Peter Deboer.

The reason for the dismissal was the losses of the hockey team — during the season the team was defeated four times in a row, seven out of 10 games were not played in favor of the Islanders.

The 60-year-old Rua has been in charge of the club since 2024. Before joining the Islanders, Deboer led Dallas, Vegas, San Jose, New Jersey and Florida, according to Sport-Express.
