Likhachev announced the resumption of contacts between the AEOI and Rosatom
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has resumed contacts with Rosatom State Corporation. This was announced on April 5 by the head of the corporation Alexey Likhachev.
"Indeed, we have received several signals from the leadership of the Atomic Energy Agency. <...> This contact continues and develops, but it takes place taking into account the realities of wartime, taking into account the lack of direct telephone, taking into account the lack of personal contacts," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
He noted that Iran reports its actions to Rosatom based on the situation, and stressed that the corporation would be ready to provide the necessary consultations to the Islamic Republic in the situation at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in the context of the experience gained at the Zaporizhia plant. Likhachev added that Rosatom had done everything necessary to maintain the construction site for the new Bushehr blocks.
Likhachev said on the same day that the red lines on the issue of strikes on nuclear infrastructure were gradually shifting, which was a matter of serious concern. According to him, what is happening indicates that previously unacceptable scenarios are beginning to be perceived as commonplace.
The AEOI reported on the eve of a new shelling of the territory of the Bushehr nuclear power plant by the United States and Israel. As a result of the blast wave and shrapnel, one of the auxiliary buildings of the NPP was damaged, and one of the employees of the station's physical security department was killed.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in turn, noted that residents of the capitals of the Arab states of the Persian Gulf could suffer from radioactive contamination as a result of the attacks on Bushehr. The Minister also expressed dissatisfaction with the position of the international community.
