Leading Russian universities have updated the admission rules for applicants — the changes affected the list of entrance examinations, the procedure for submitting documents and the target recruitment system. On April 4, ten universities — MIPT, MEPhI, RANEPA, RGGU, RUDN University, HSE, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, RGSU, MPSU and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics - announced the specifics of the admission campaign for the 2026/2027 academic year.

A number of universities have revised the lists of entrance exams. Thus, physics has become mandatory for admission to engineering specialties at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, RIA Novosti reports.

In addition, universities with a social and humanitarian profile have received the right to include the Unified State Exam in history along with social studies, while applicants will be able to choose one of these subjects in the admission campaign of 2026.

The RGGU reported that the university did not replace social studies with history, but added it as a subject of choice for a number of fields of study.
