New main water pipeline to be built in Kavminvod region
A new main water pipeline will be built on the territory of Kavminvod to solve the problem of regular water supply interruptions. The alternative source will be the Malkinskoye groundwater deposit, said Vladimir Vladimirov, Governor of the Stavropol Territory.
"In recent years, we have observed that the flow of water from our traditional sources — the Caucasus Mountains and glaciers — has become unstable. Alternative sources of water supply turned out to be more important than ever," said the head of the region.
According to him, the new large-scale project will help improve the quality of water supply throughout the Kavminvoda agglomeration, where more than 1 million people live.
The decision on the implementation of the facility was made on Friday, April 3, writes IA StavropolMedia. The work will begin in the near future, and it is planned to be completed within five years.
Earlier it was reported that in 2025, the Stavropol authorities prepared a program for the modernization of water supply and sanitation, which requires more than 100 billion rubles to implement. The project includes more than 30 events that will affect two agglomerations — Stavropol and the Kavminvod region.
A roadmap has already been prepared in September 2024. In particular, the construction of a pumping station, the reconstruction of the Eshkakon hydroelectric complex, water intake facilities and other activities are planned.
