- SIBUR and RWB offered to compensate for the carbon footprint of deliveries to customers
SIBUR and RWB (the combined company Wildberries & Russ) have launched a tool for voluntary compensation of the carbon footprint from the delivery of online orders on the marketplace. Users can make their purchase carbon-neutral on the RWB Participation platform. This is reported by the press services of the companies.
Information about the impact of their online orders on the climate has already been posted in the personal account of users of the platform. In the same place, you can fully compensate for the carbon footprint. For more than 90% of shipments, the cost of paying off the carbon footprint will be 3-5 rubles.
The reliability of each indicator is provided by information from the waybill filled in during cargo transportation. The carbon footprint calculation methodology is based on the analysis of historical data on Wildberries logistics and has been independently verified by the world leader in BureauVeritas certification. The carbon units used to pay off the carbon footprint from the delivery of orders were obtained through the implementation of SIBUR's climate projects.
"SIBUR has proven expertise in implementing large—scale climate projects - we have 12 of them to our credit, and the effect has already reached 5.4 million verified carbon units. But in order to translate this expertise into the real involvement of millions of people, it is necessary to join forces with those who interact with the mass audience on a daily basis. Our partnership with RWB is an example of such synergy," said Mikhail Karisalov, Chairman of the company's Management Board. He called the partnership with RWB "an ideal example of such synergy."
"It is important for us not only to give people the technical opportunity to "push the button", but also to explain why this is necessary. We want to create long—term awareness, not hold a one-time campaign," said Tatiana Kim, head of RWB and founder of Wildberries. She added that the parties are actually creating from scratch "a market of carbon units for ordinary people who can purposefully participate in the green agenda along with government and business."
