Medvedev instructed to set up work against ethnic enclaves in Russia
The issue of countering the creation of ethnic enclaves by migrants in Russia requires special attention. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting of the council's interdepartmental commission.
"This topic is resonant, there is a lot of talk and writing about it. The issue certainly requires special attention. The compact residence of foreigners usually in any country, by the way, not only in ours, does not contribute to their adaptation. And, accordingly, it does not contribute to the proper application of Russian laws and proper law—abiding behavior," Medvedev said, the recording is available on the MAX messenger.
He also said that a package of necessary bills has been prepared that will allow for prompt decisions on the undesirability of problematic foreigners staying in the country. According to him, the prompt detection of a dangerous disease in a migrant should be followed by his immediate expulsion from Russia.
At the plenary session on March 18, State Duma deputies adopted in the first reading a government bill that introduces additional requirements for migrant workers wishing to work in Russia. The initiative stipulates that migrant workers will have to support themselves and their family members living in the Russian Federation and dependent on them at a level not lower than the subsistence level multiplied by the regional coefficient.
On March 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out the need to pay special attention to combating illegal migration in Russia. He also noted that the measures taken in this area are already yielding results.
