On Monday, April 6, another lesson from the series "Conversations about important things" will take place in Russian schools and colleges. It will be timed to coincide with the upcoming Cosmonautics Day and the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight. Izvestia tells about how the lesson will be held in different classes.

"Talking about important things" on April 6 — the topic of the lesson

The topic of the lesson is "65 years of triumph. On Cosmonautics Day" — reveals the role of Russia as one of the leading space powers and highlights the importance of Russian achievements in space exploration. During the lesson, students will learn about the key stages of the development of cosmonautics in our country — from the launch of the first artificial satellite of the Earth and the historic flight of Yuri Gagarin to modern projects and technologies.

A separate section is devoted to the formation of a value attitude towards the work of designers, engineers, and cosmonaut pilots, who open up new horizons in space exploration. They will also talk about design bureaus, research centers and enterprises where modern spacecraft are being created, and modern developments by Russian scientists.

During the lesson, students will learn how knowledge in physics, mathematics and computer science is applied in practice — in the creation of rockets, satellites, communications and navigation systems. The conversation will be aimed not only at developing interest in natural science and technical disciplines, but also at forming an informed approach among schoolchildren to choosing a future profession, including in the field of space technology and research.

Dmitry Bakanov, CEO of Roscosmos, will join the video interview lesson. He will talk about new manned programs, the importance of training young specialists for future space expeditions, and share plans for the development of the Russian space industry in the coming years.

The lesson will take the form of an educational conversation using presentations, video materials and interactive elements. The recommended duration of the lesson is 30 minutes. Methodological materials and recommendations can be found on the project's website.

"Conversations about important things" on April 6 — lesson program

In elementary school, grades 1-4, students will learn about the history of astronautics in an accessible form. Educational videos and animation materials will be used to tell about the first human spaceflight and the work of astronauts. Children will discuss who astronauts are, what tasks they perform, what weightlessness is, and how a rocket overcomes gravity. At the end, they will receive an interactive task "Assemble a rocket."

In grades 5-7, students will discuss the main stages of space exploration, get acquainted with the names of outstanding scientists and engineers. Then they will embark on a virtual trip to the cosmonaut training center and the Baikonur cosmodrome, from where Yuri Gagarin made his legendary flight. Students will also analyze what technologies are used in the space industry today and try to complete tasks on logical thinking and modeling.

In grades 8-9, the lesson will shift towards career guidance. Teachers will focus on the achievements of Russian science and technological sovereignty. Together with the students, they will discuss the question of which specialties are most in demand at the Roscosmos Rocket and Space Corporation today. As a practical task, the students will solve a case study: they will be asked to simulate the situation of choosing materials for a new generation satellite, arguing their decision.

For high school students (grades 10-11) and college students, the conversation will focus on the prospects of manned space exploration, the lunar program and deep space exploration. It will be mandatory to watch a fragment of a documentary about the work of the International Space Station (ISS). Then the teachers will involve the children in a discussion about why it is important for the country to maintain its leading position in space, how the space industry is developing today and its impact on the economy.

At the end of the lesson, all classes will be summarized. Students will come to understand the importance of the space industry for the country, the role of science and technology in the development of society, and also realize the importance of personal contribution to the future of the country through the choice of education and profession.

Thus, during the lesson, students will expand their knowledge of the history of Russian cosmonautics, learn that the daily work of thousands of specialists is behind every space achievement, and also realize the importance of personal contribution to the future of the country through the choice of education and profession. Perhaps, for some of them, this will be the first step towards choosing a future profession related to space and high technology.
