- To the People's Program of United Russia The development of youth tourism will be included
The United Russia Party's national program will include an initiative to increase the number of tourist routes in the regions, including patriotic destinations with visits to places of military glory. This was reported on April 2 by the RAPSI agency.
Ivan Kolesnikov, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways, said that in the fall of 2025, with the support of the company, the project "Journey through Hero Cities" was implemented. Three railway routes covered nine cities, including Murmansk, Smolensk, Tula, Volgograd and Novorossiysk. More than 1.3 thousand people took part in the trips.
"Each trip included three components: tourist, educational and socially useful. The children visited history museums, memorial complexes, participated in thematic quests and quizzes, and also made a personal contribution to the preservation of historical memory," said Kolesnikov.
The representative of Russian Railways added that in May 2026, the stations in Rostov-on-Don, Pyatigorsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Moscow and St. Petersburg will become venues for the "Know. Be in love. Be proud." The project is aimed at popularizing domestic tourism and promoting traditional values.
Artem Metelev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, stressed that the party had helped recognize hiking and expeditions as full-fledged forms of work with young people. The procedure for allocating land for tent camps was also simplified, which solved a long-standing administrative problem.
"Traveling around your native country is an important part of patriotic education, strengthening values and civic responsibility. When young people get to know the culture and achievements of Russia firsthand, visit the sites of great battles, they reinforce their school and university knowledge with personal experience, and grow up," the parliamentarian said.
According to Metelev, United Russia supports the development of youth tourism and does not reduce its activity. The plans for 2026 are to involve 300,000 young people in the "More than a Journey" program.
Currently, other specialized projects are being developed in the country: "Train of Memory", "Journey of Dreams" and "Train of Heroes". The leader in the number of routes to places of military glory is the Krasnodar Territory, where there are 14 such destinations. There are eight of them in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, seven in the Belgorod Region, and six each in the Kaluga, Moscow, Murmansk, and Tambov regions.
On March 28, Izvestia reviewed research data from Ozon Travel and Aeroflot, which shows that 71% of Russians plan to spend their summer holidays in the country, with rest and new experiences remaining the main expectations from the trip. This summer, 73% of tourists intend to go on a trip for rest and relaxation, 67% — for new experiences, more than half expect comfort and a high level of service, and one in three — for active recreation and vivid emotions.
