There have been 209 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
On the first day of April, 209 road accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 17 people were killed and 255 injured. 13 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on April 2 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
In the Leningrad region, on 18 km of the federal highway A-120 "St. Petersburg Southern Half Ring", a 71-year-old female driver of a cargo van at an unregulated intersection did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a passenger car moving along the main road, driven by a 29-year-old motorist. As a result of the accident, both drivers and two minor passengers of the car were hospitalized with injuries.
13 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 16 road users, including two children, required medical assistance. Five bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 63 accidents, 25 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 38 outside their area of operation, four pedestrians were killed, and 61 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 21 minor pedestrians, 14 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas. 49 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 56 young road users were injured, including 23 passengers, 11 child drivers, three of whom were motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.
The State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motor vehicles without the appropriate right and driving skills. Administrative liability is provided for providing the opportunity to drive a car or motor vehicle to people who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category.
The lack of control over the behavior and leisure of minors, especially during the spring break days currently taking place in schools with a quarter-time education system, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, the department noted.
Mopeds and motorcycles on public roads can be driven no earlier than the age of 16. Cross—country motorcycles and pitbikes, which are sports equipment, should be used only on specialized tracks and only for motorsport, including for young athletes. It is strictly forbidden to use them on ordinary roads, as well as in populated areas.
"In addition, have an explanatory conversation with the children about the rules of safe cycling or personal mobility, paying special attention to the need to dismount when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing. Adults should regularly tell minors about the rules of the road, the dangers of entering the roadway and the need to observe safe behavior while riding, especially when crossing the road. Please note that access to public roads for cyclists and SIM users is allowed only when they reach the age of 14," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The day before, it was reported that since April 1, when the annual recalculation of the bonus-malus coefficient (KBM) in CTP took place, the number of drivers with its minimum value has increased. Now, drivers with a BMD below 1 account for 93.8% of all drivers in the country.
