- The Investigative Committee told about the torture of Russian prisoners of war by the Armed Forces of Ukraine militants
Ukrainian militants tortured captured Russian servicemen by beating them with sticks, connecting wires with electricity to their limbs and releasing dogs. Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, told about this on April 2.
"Russian servicemen who were in Ukrainian captivity informed military investigators that they had been physically assaulted by Ukrainian militants," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Bastrykin stressed that the Ukrainian militants committed these crimes for their own pleasure. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee also said that the department's staff communicates with every Russian serviceman who has returned home from Ukrainian captivity.
Almost all of them talk about violations by representatives of Ukraine of the requirements of the Geneva Convention prohibiting ill-treatment, torture and torture of prisoners of war. For each such fact, the investigation gives a criminal law assessment.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on March 27 that the ministry was constantly drawing the attention of the world community to Ukraine's crimes and the use of medical workers to torture prisoners of war, and the names of these doctors would be identified.
Zakharova's report presents numerous testimonies of victims, which were recorded by the International Public Tribunal for the Crimes of Ukrainian Neo-Nazis.
