Moscow has created an infrastructure for filming patriotic films of any scale
Over the past year, the Moscow Film Commission has received more than 3.8 thousand applications for the organization of filming in the city. Of the completed projects, 20 paintings touched on the themes of historical memory, military duty and national identity. On April 2, the work of the film commission was reported on the official Internet portal of the capital. mos.ru .
One of the most striking projects of 2025 was the Empire series. It covers the topics of politics, everyday life, economics, transport features and culture of the Russian Empire. Two episodes of the project — "Empire: Alexander III" and "Empire: Nicholas II" — were filmed at the Moskino Film Park.
"The last scenes of the series turned out to be the most difficult — the finale, filmed in the setting of the Far Eastern City: the office of Nicholas II in the governor's house in Mogilev, the Romanov tea party in Tobolsk, where the tsar photographs his family for the last time, and the exit to the firing squad," the publication says.
It is noted that the Moscow Film Commission appeared in 2018 on behalf of the mayor of the capital. Currently, it has become part of a cluster that also includes the Moskino film park, a film factory and a digital platform for accepting applications. In seven years of work, about 10 thousand shootings were organized on urban sites.
Another bright project of the past year was the film adaptation of Boris Vasiliev's novel "Not on the list." The premiere of the film was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and took place on May 1. Starring Vladimir Mashkov, Vladislav Miller, Alyona Morilova, Pavel Chernyshev and Yana Sexte.
"The central production decision was the construction of a 42,000 square meter full—scale scenery in the Moskino film Park - an exact replica of the key triangle of the Brest Fortress (St. Casimir's Church, the barracks of the 333rd Infantry Regiment and the Terespolsky Gate). The decoration was built in just two months on sturdy metal frames with reinforced walls and ceilings," the article says.
150 tons of bricks were brought to the site to prepare the decorations.
Andrey Volgin, the director of the Red Silk film, told Izvestia on March 19 that the film crew had begun work on the sequel to the Russian-Chinese film Red Silk, a new project called Black Silk. It was noted that filming takes place both in Russia and in China. Complex technical solutions are used for some scenes, including large-scale decorations and special pavilions.
