The Traffic Management Center (TSODD) reported on Wednesday, April 1, that Moscow motorists can already switch to summer tires.

According to Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry, with the establishment of stable warm weather, drivers are strongly advised to replace winter tires with summer tires, as this directly affects the reduction of accidents. He also noted that special care should be taken by those who travel outside the city: frosts are still possible at night in the Moscow region, so it is better to plan such trips during the daytime.

The data center clarified that in the capital, the night air temperature no longer drops below zero, and the daily average reaches about +7 degrees. It is this indicator that is considered a key guideline for changing tires, since winter tires begin to lose their properties at higher temperatures.

Experts emphasized that the use of winter tires during the warm season directly affects safety: the braking distance increases, and the car's handling deteriorates. In addition, the soft composition of winter tires in the heat wears out and overheats faster, and the tread pattern creates additional noise.

The ministry also recalled that the operation of studded tires is prohibited in the summer months of June, July and August, according to the Moscow City News agency.

Earlier in the day, Yuri Varakin, adviser to the director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, said that the air temperature in Moscow exceeds the climatic norm by 11 degrees. Frosts are not expected in the next 10 days, but values from 0 to -2 degrees are possible in the Moscow region, writes RT.

On April 30, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation announced that Moscow motorists can already start changing tires to summer tires. The average daily temperature in Moscow has reached the values at which it is safe.
