Retired Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis of the US Army said that the possible withdrawal of the United States from NATO would lead to the collapse of the Ukrainian army and accelerate the military defeat of Kiev. On April 1, he wrote about this on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"This will suddenly leave Ukraine practically alone and probably accelerate its military defeat, but not as a result of a sober negotiated settlement on the best terms for it, but potentially as a result of the sudden collapse of its army," the publication says.

According to Davis, the US withdrawal from the bloc would be a serious blow to European allies. He believes that European countries will feel abandoned and humiliated, and if the right moment arises, they can start acting against Washington.

On the same day, American leader Donald Trump announced that he was seriously considering the US withdrawal from NATO after the alliance refused to help in the conflict with Iran. According to him, the North Atlantic Alliance has never influenced him. Trump called its participants paper tigers, reports NSN.

The day before, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth said that Trump would decide the future of NATO after the end of the conflict in Iran. He noted that the United States faces obstacles and hesitations, even when they send requests to NATO members for the deployment of bases and the possibility of overflight.
