- The Kremlin responded to Zelensky's words about the deadline for the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Donbass
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky should decide as soon as possible on the withdrawal of his troops from the occupied territory of Donbass. This was announced on Wednesday, April 1, by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Zelensky should make a decision today that Ukrainian troops leave the territory of Donbass, go beyond the administrative borders of the Donetsk People's Republic," he said during his briefing.
The Kremlin's official representative stressed that Kiev had received similar calls repeatedly and Zelensky, in his opinion, should have made such a difficult decision for him "yesterday." This step, as Peskov added, would make it possible to stop the so-called hot phase of the conflict.
On the same day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, taking part in a Russian-Uzbek conference being held at the Valdai Club, pointed out Zelensky's reluctance to withdraw troops from the territories of Donbass. According to him, representatives of the United States are currently working on this issue with the Ukrainian side, who, in turn, want to get Ukraine ready for compromises.
On March 27, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio predicted Ukraine's defeat if it did not agree to make concessions.
