The crash of the AN-26 military transport aircraft in Crimea could have happened instantly, the pilots might not have had time to contact the dispatcher. This opinion was expressed on April 1 by Oleg Smirnov, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Commission of the Rostransnadzor Public Council, Honored Pilot of the USSR.

"When something like this happens, the commander of the ship must immediately warn the ground so that all services prepare to meet the plane," Smirnov said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
