The United States made a serious historical miscalculation by underestimating Iran's potential. This was announced on April 1 by Glen Diesen, professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, on his page on the social network X (former. Twitter).

The analyst stressed that in the current situation, the only way for US President Donald Trump to declare a formal victory remains the complete withdrawal of troops from the region. However, according to Diesen, such a move would lead to the immediate collapse of American influence in the Middle East.

The professor pointed out possible retaliatory measures by Tehran, including setting conditions for ships to access through the Strait of Hormuz. In particular, Iran may demand the elimination of all US military bases in the region, payment of reparations, and initiate a transition to payments for oil in national currencies instead of the dollar.

"Underestimating Iran was a historic mistake," he said.

On April 1, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said that Tehran is ready to achieve lasting peace if Washington and Tel Aviv fulfill four key demands. According to him, the list of conditions includes a complete cessation of aggression and terrorist acts, as well as the provision of credible guarantees to prevent repeated conflicts.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on March 31 that Tehran does not accept the cease-fire. In addition, the Islamic Republic demands an end to wars throughout the Middle East.
