Rosreestr has selected 10 of the most unusual place names in the country
Rosreestr has prepared a selection of 10 settlements and geographical objects in Russia with unusual names. This was announced on April 1 by the department in the MAX messenger.
The list includes the village of Khokhotui in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the village of Baldeika in Udmurtia, Veselaya Mountain and the Humor River in the Amur Region, Lake Medved Fell in Kamchatka, Krivaya Koshka Island in the Arkhangelsk Region, Veselaya Zhizn farm in the Krasnodar Territory, Novy Opel village in the Pskov Region, as well as the villages of Bolshye Pupsy and Madmenovo in the Tver Region..
According to Rosreestr experts, in most cases the name reflects the description of the area, its characteristics, the natural environment or the peculiarities of the indigenous language, and unusual place names are often associated with the history of territorial development and folk tradition.

Philologist, comparative linguist Alyona Popova noted in an interview with Izvestia on February 25 that the appearance and spread of the word "abuser" meets social needs. Currently, this term is most often used in the context of psychology and discussion of personal boundaries, toxic relationships between partners, parents and children, as well as in the framework of work and friendly interactions.
