An earthquake of magnitude 6 occurred in Peru. This was announced on April 1 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
According to seismologists, the epicenter of the tremors was located 52 km south-east of the city of Chasuta, which is home to about 8 thousand people. The source of the natural phenomenon lay at a depth of 113 km.
At the moment, there is no information about possible casualties or large-scale destruction in settlements.
On the same day, it became known about an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 recorded in the eastern part of Honshu Island in Japan. The epicenter of the tremors was 18 km north of the city of Noda, which is home to about 121 thousand people.
