Military personnel of the engineering units of the Southern Group of Forces of the Russian Army in the field have created and launched mass production of a device for remote mine clearance and mining of the territory using drones. Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov showed how military personnel work with the new device.

According to a soldier of the 11th Engineering Brigade of the Southern Group of Forces with the call sign Tokar, an experimental platform for remote mine clearance has been developed, mounted on quadrocopters.

"The bottom line is that the operator has the ability to lower the mine clearance charge to potentially dangerous objects in a controlled manner," the soldier said.

The device allows you to accurately lower the explosive charge onto the mine using a servo mounted on the drone. Previously, charges were dropped from a height, the accuracy of the hit depended on weather conditions, time of day and other factors. The use of new technology has increased accuracy to 100%, which eliminates the need for sappers to enter a dangerous area and saves ammunition. In addition, it significantly accelerated the work: now up to five mines can be destroyed in an hour.

In parallel with the creation of the device, the brigade has organized a training system for operators of unmanned systems (UAS).

"The obstacle course that the cadets go through in this training class completely simulates the conditions that a BPS operator may encounter on the front line," Kildibekov said.

According to the head of the training department of the 11th engineering brigade with the call sign Gusar, classes in classrooms are necessary to develop fine motor skills when controlling a drone. The training is conducted in the flight class, which is intermediate between the computer class and the training ground. This allows you to practice mining and mine clearance tasks and improve the necessary skills in conditions as close to combat as possible.

On March 31, the Russian Defense Ministry told how Private Fadis Salikhov conducted aerial reconnaissance using a UAV and identified the location of an armored personnel carrier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Salikhov transmitted the coordinates to the command and adjusted the artillery fire on the target.
