The expert dispelled myths about the expected Rose Moon on April 2
The pink Moon will rise on April 2, 2026 at 05:11 Moscow time. Honorary Doctor of Sciences, lecturer Sergey Chumakov, told Izvestia on April 1 about the myths associated with this astronomical phenomenon.
According to the expert, there are many signs and superstitions associated with the Moon, since it is the only natural space object whose details are visible to the naked eye.
"I hasten to assure you that the Moon will not have any pink tint on this day, because its color largely depends on the state of the Earth's atmosphere, through which the light of the Earth's satellite passes," Chumakov added.
According to the expert, this name originated as a marketing ploy in North America, where one of the tribes called the April full moon "pink" for its folklore reasons.
"The full moon on April 2 will be quite ordinary, the same as in March or May, and, of course, it will not affect people's health or the growth rate of seedlings," Chumakov explained.
In addition, he noted that the maximum of the Lyrid meteor shower is expected on April 22 and 23, with meteors appearing every 3-5 minutes. In addition, on April 19, the Moon and Venus will converge in the evening sky, and on April 22, the Moon will be next to Jupiter. April will also be the last month when in the evening it will be possible to see Sirius, the brightest star in the earth's sky, visible in the southwest after 20:30, concluded Chumakov.
In the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) On March 31, the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that a powerful flare of the highest class X1.4 was registered on the Sun, which was accompanied by a large and rapid release of plasma. The laboratory also noted a high probability of intense auroras.
