The State Duma rejected the idea of compulsory study of a second foreign language in schools

Russia will not introduce compulsory study of a second foreign language in schools. This was announced on April 1 by the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin following a conversation with the head of the Ministry Sergey Kravtsov.

"Taking into account the opinions expressed, a second foreign language will not be introduced as mandatory," Volodin wrote on his channel in the MAX messenger.

It is noted that according to a personal survey of the chairman of the State Duma, the majority of respondents opposed the bill.

"The obligatory second foreign language would lead to an overload of the child. And the organization of his education would be difficult for schools to implement," argued Volodin, who also spoke out against the initiative.
