The main cause of health problems in the spring is the body's lack of physical activity after winter. Bending over for hours and carrying heavy loads in the country leads to muscle spasms, ligament damage and exacerbation of chronic diseases, Yulia Selyukova, senior physical therapist at the Three Sisters Early Rehabilitation Clinic, told Izvestia on April 2.

The expert called incorrect equipment an additional risk factor. Summer residents often work in galoshes that do not fix the foot and slip on wet ground, which overloads joints and provokes falls. Selyukova also noted the danger of using short tools that force a person to constantly bend over.

To reduce the load on the spine, it is recommended to use tools with long handles, such as choppers and flat cutters, which allow you to work standing up. According to her, the length of the shovel should be about 10 cm below the shoulder or reach the elbow. An important safety condition is a good sharpening of the inventory, which reduces the necessary effort.

As the doctor noted, in case of acute pain, it is necessary to stop work immediately. Attempts to finish things by force can seriously worsen the damage. In the first hours, it is recommended to reduce the load and limit movement in the painful area. If you experience numbness or weakness in the extremities, you should immediately consult a doctor.

"The modern approach to recovery is based on an early and controlled return to movement. After assessing the condition, specialists select an individual program: safe exercise, exercise and gradual restoration of function," Yulia Selyukova said.

The physical therapist emphasized that complete inactivity after an injury often slows down recovery. Rehabilitation under the supervision of specialists is considered as a key stage of treatment, helping to return to the usual level of activity without long-term consequences for the body.

"Rehabilitation is considered today as a key stage of treatment after injuries of the musculoskeletal system. It helps not only to relieve symptoms, but also to return a person to the usual level of activity," Selyukova concluded.

On February 10, Andrey Kuznetsov, a physiotherapist at the Medical and Rehabilitation Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, spoke about bad habits and the prevention of joint problems after the age of 40. According to him, the main enemy of joints remains excess weight: every additional kilogram increases the load, especially on the legs.
