The possible cause of death of Olympic handball champion Eduard Koksharov could be a stroke. This was announced on March 31 by the Olympic champion of 1976, Vladimir Maksimov.
"Stroke or heart. Now the family has to decide where to bury — in Brest or Krasnodar. His second wife will decide," Maximov said in an interview with TASS.
Koksharov died on the same day at the age of 51. The athlete became one of the most decorated handball players in the history of the country. As a member of the Russian national team, he won the Olympic gold medal in 2000 and the bronze in 2004. He also won gold and silver at the World Championships, as well as a silver medal at the European championships.
