The cost of foreign holidays for Russians increases annually, but this does not lead to a decrease in demand for popular destinations. Natalia Anstal, head of the Go Travel tour operator, told Izvestia about this on March 31.

On the same day, the media reported that air tickets would rise in price by 10-15 thousand rubles due to an increase in fuel taxes. This will hit popular tourist destinations the hardest, in particular flights to Turkey, Egypt, Asian countries and the Maldives.

"Tourists are already used to the gradual increase in prices, especially in destinations such as Turkey and Egypt, and do not perceive this as a surprise. Even with an increase in the cost of the tour by 10-30 thousand rubles, and in some cases up to 40 thousand rubles, most travelers do not give up their usual vacation," the expert said.

Anstal noted that the key cost factor remains the increase in the cost of flights associated with changing routes and the need to fly around unsafe areas. This directly affects the price of tours, as air tickets account for a significant share of their cost.

The expert stressed that a significant part of tourists are guided not so much by the price, but rather by the usual level of service and preferred destinations. As a result, Russians are rarely willing to replace foreign resorts with domestic tourism, even at comparable costs. According to her assessment, the vast majority of travelers choose holidays abroad rather than at Russian resorts.

However, some tourists are still reviewing their plans and looking for more affordable alternatives. In particular, with rising prices for Turkey, some choose Egypt, where the cost of a vacation may be lower with a slight difference in flight time. Among the new trends, Anstal highlighted the growing interest in Asian destinations such as Vietnam and China, despite the longer flights. There is also a continuing demand for neighboring countries — Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

"In 2026, the increase in prices for tours will continue and may amount to about 20-30% in individual destinations. At the same time, the dynamics of the cost will largely depend on the exchange rate: its fluctuations will directly affect the final price of travel," the expert concluded.

Earlier, on March 23, it was reported that Kaliningrad became the most popular destination for travel in Russia in April, and Istanbul is the leader among foreign routes.
