Fines for making bonfires in forests introduced in Transbaikalia

In Transbaikalia, in eight districts of the region, Chita and BUT Gorny, a special fire protection regime began to operate. Fines are threatened for making bonfires, burning waste and using fire in forests.

In particular, during this period, it is prohibited to use any kind of open fire in burning areas, peat bogs, logging areas, coniferous young forests and other areas with felling residues or dried grass. It is forbidden to throw burning matches and cigarette butts, use smoldering wads during hunting, litter forests with waste and burn out combustible materials in areas adjacent to the forest.

IA ChitaMedia, with reference to Zabaikalpozhspas, clarifies that for violating the rules, citizens will be fined from 40 to 50 thousand rubles, officials from 60 to 90 thousand rubles, and legal entities from 600 thousand to 1 million rubles. Violators face up to 10 years in prison. In addition, the authorities announced a reward for the capture of the arsonist in the amount of 250 thousand rubles, for information about him — in the amount of 150 thousand rubles.

Earlier, on March 26, it was reported that the forest fire season was open in 17 regions of Russia. The season began, in particular, in the Belgorod, Moscow, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Smolensk regions, in Adygea, Primorsky and Krasnodar territories.

Since the beginning of 2026, 75 forest fires have been eliminated in Russia on an area of 3.7 thousand hectares, the press service of the Federal Forestry Agency reported.
