The New Movement Festival of Young Cinema presents a new visual concept
The third festival of young cinema "New Movement", which will be held from May 28 to June 1 in Veliky Novgorod, continues to develop, presenting an updated team and a new visual concept.
As a festival focused on a new generation of authors and current artistic processes, the New Movement naturally expands its team, attracting specialists with different professional experience and views on modern cinema.
Starting this year, Trifon Bebutov, a journalist, media manager, author of documentaries, founder and general producer of DREAMCAST media, former editor—in-chief of the Rules of Life magazine and current editorial director of Afisha Daily, will become the program director of the festival.
"It is a great honor for me to join the team of the New Movement Festival in the role of program director. I am sincerely grateful to Maxim Korolev and Artyom Mikhalkov for their trust and the invitation to become a part of this important process. I am convinced that the New Movement today is not just a festival, but an assembly point for new names, new voices and new meanings that will determine the future of cinema, both for the audience and for the industry," Trifon Bebutov notes.
Hanna Mironenko, a film critic, producer and expert at international festivals, has been appointed curator of the Auteur Cinema Market. A graduate of VGIK (Kirill Razlogov's workshop) and Jagiellonian University, she has been promoting films at festivals for more than 15 years and has collaborated with such festivals as San Sebastian International Film Festival, Camerimage, Helsinki DocPoint, and MIFF. She has been an invited expert in the business programs of IFF Rotterdam, Tampere FF, Go Short, etc. Hanna Mironenko is the co-founder of Eastwood Agency.
This year, the festival also presents a new visual concept developed by artist and designer Konstantin Chirkov. It is based on the image of the arrow as a symbol of movement, development and support. The dynamic composition of arrows forms the visual language of the festival, reflecting its idea as a space for growth and search. The concept is complemented by the image of a man rising into the air with the help of balloons — the metaphor of a creator, whose ideas gain strength and embodiment in synergy with the festival.
Konstantin Chirkov: "I decided to completely rework the festival's identity, but not to look for complicated metaphors. The symbol of movement for me was the image of an arrow, and then I put together a composition of several arrows. This dynamic graphic element became the basis of the key image of the festival — a symbol of movement, development and support. Later, an image of a man flying in balloons appeared.: This is a creator, and balloons are his ideas, which are not always enough to unleash his creative potential. Therefore, the symbiosis of the arrows (the image of the festival) and the creative personality helps to create a work of cinematography."
Maxim Korolev (General Producer of the Festival): New Movement is a young festival that develops together with the industry and young authors. It is important for us that it reflects this movement — openness to new things, willingness to experiment and dialogue. The new members of the team are a natural continuation of the logic in which the festival was conceived and is developing today."
For the first time, the New Movement festival was held in Veliky Novgorod in 2024, and during this time it has already managed to establish itself as an important platform for young filmmakers, bringing together new names, ideas and a professional community.
Within the framework of the festival, the Auteur Cinema Market will be held for the second time in 2026, where young directors and producers will present their projects to distributors, platforms, festival selectors and potential partners.
The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Novgorod Region.
