A second foreign language may become compulsory in Russian schools. This was reported on March 31 by TASS with reference to the draft order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
"The curriculum of secondary general education provides for the compulsory study of the following subjects at the basic and (or) advanced level: Russian language, literature, mother tongue (the language of the people of the Russian Federation) and (or) the state language of the Republic of the Russian Federation, native literature (literature in the language of the people of the Russian Federation), a foreign language, a second foreign language language, mathematics, computer science, history, social studies, geography, physics, chemistry, biology, fundamentals of homeland security and defense, physical education," the document says.
