For many, the end of a multi-week fast is perceived as the long-awaited finish of a marathon followed by a reward in the form of a generous feast. However, from a physiological point of view, this period is one of the most risky. Natalia Nefedova, a nutritionist and an expert of the Doctor TV channel, told about this on March 31.Газете.Ru ".

She noted that fasting is not just a change in diet, but a complete restructuring of the digestive system. In a few weeks, the activity of the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder slows down. With the sudden intake of fatty, fried and high-calorie foods, a powerful hormonal and enzymatic surge occurs.

"A sharp increase in the volume and fat content of food stimulates contractions of the gallbladder and can provoke acute pancreatitis or biliary colic in predisposed people," warns Nefedova.

The expert clarified that after a long fast, a heavy meal can be dangerous not only for the gastrointestinal tract, but also for the heart. For people with hypertension or coronary heart disease, excessive nutrition can trigger a crisis or complications.

Fatty meats, sausages, fried dishes, concentrated broths, sweets with cream and alcohol are especially difficult for the body to tolerate. Overeating after prolonged abstinence leads to a hormonal and enzymatic "explosion", and excessive speed of eating prevents the brain from receiving a signal of satiety in time.

The doctor recommends a safe way out of fasting, which consists of fractional 3-4 meals a day, moderate portions, the inclusion of protein and vegetables, the gradual addition of fatty and complex dishes, preference for whole grains and sufficient water intake. It is important to avoid excessive consumption of sweets, alcohol and concentrated sauces, so as not to overload the body and provoke pancreatitis or heart problems.

If weakness, shortness of breath or other alarming symptoms persist after fasting, it is worth checking the level of vitamins and trace elements and, if necessary, consult a doctor. The main principle of a safe exit is moderation, diversity and gradualness in returning to the usual, Nefedova summarized.

Nutritionist and nutritionist Yulia Kashapova said on March 30 that regular consumption of ultra—processed foods — sugary drinks, snacks and semi-finished products - can negatively affect health. These products include sausages, chips, ready-made breakfasts, and store-bought pastries with industrial additives that are rarely used in home cooking.
