The FSB of Russia has recommended that Russian citizens refrain from meetings with British diplomats. This was announced on March 30 in the press service of the department.

"The FSB of Russia recommends that, in order to avoid negative consequences, including criminal liability, compatriots refrain from holding meetings with British diplomats that are not coordinated with the Russian Foreign Ministry, including on the territory of the British diplomatic mission," the statement said.

It is noted that this measure is due to the fact that intelligence officers may be hiding under the guise of diplomats. The ministry added that the FSB will continue to counter the intelligence and subversive activities of the special services of foreign countries.

On that day, the FSB of the Russian Federation announced that an employee of the British diplomatic mission, Jans Van Rensburg, had been stripped of his accreditation due to intelligence activities in Russia. According to the agency, the second secretary of the British Embassy tried to obtain sensitive information during informal meetings with Russian experts in the field of economics.

At the same time, the British Charge d'affaires in Moscow, Dany Dolakia, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. They protested to her.
