Brazilian President Lula da Silva called for UN Security Council reforms

The UN Security Council needs to be reformed. This was announced on March 30 by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

"The time has come to respond decisively, restoring the ability of the reformed United Nations to act," he wrote in a column for The Guardian newspaper.

Silva noted that the number of armed conflicts has now reached its maximum since the Second World War. According to him, the boundaries of what is allowed in international politics are blurred and cannot guarantee the participants' safety. Lula da Silva accused the organization of being unable to contain aggression in conflicts. He called for restoring the UN Security Council's status as an influential player capable of containing conflicts and disasters.
